From the honky tonks of Honolulu to the plains of Alabama, what started in 1980 is back in the saddle again. First performed together as The Electric Rangers in Hawaii in 1980, recorded on Lehua Records. Toured the Orient & Asia as Freddy Fender’s road band. They performed with Tennessee Ernie Ford, Little Jimmie Dickens, Loretta Lynn and toured with both Jack Greene and sax great Ace Cannon. Disbanded in ’85, off on their own separate musical adventures, the last 2 members still standing - reunited, regrouped and are ready to resume the ride. Now based in Auburn with Uncle Roy’s Folk Art Gallery & Live Music Lanai as their headquarters where they perform every 3rd Sunday on a flatbed trailer in a homegrown situation not unlike their old backyard in Waimanalo, Hawaii. Andrew D on pedal steel, Telecaster, lap steel, banjo, Dobro. Uncle Roy guitar, harmonica, mandolin and lately, back on drums and newest Ranger, Randy McDaniel on upright and electric bass.

Back together with renewed energy, playing that authentic classic country, western swing and rockabilly that brung ‘em to the dance. With a new CD “Live @ Uncle Roy’s” under their belt, a place to call home and an appreciative audience The Electric Rangers are still alive and well. Happy to open the Sundown Series of live music concerts at Town Creek for the third year in a row, back again for the Fall Music Series at Keisel Park, coming on the heels of The Bike Bash,The Empty Bowls and the downtown Art Walk performances  it seems we have indeed found a home in Auburn, Alabama. Thank you and mahalo!

The Electric Rangers ride again, started in the honky tonks of Honolulu in the 80’s - regrouped and reformed and ready to resume the journey, Uncle Roy (aka Ranger Roy back in the day) Andrew D. (aka Andy Lau Lau) and the newest Ranger, Randy McDaniel with 6 songs recorded “Live at Uncle Roy’s (Art Gallery and Live Music Lanai) with Jamie Uertz once again as the engineer, mix master extrodinaire. Plus 5 songs recorded at The Radar Room at The Guitar Shoppe with Wade Allen at the controls and featuring “Honorary Ranger” Jonas Schultz on keyboards, saxophone & vocals.
So who are these guys? First performed together as The Electric Rangers in Hawaii in 1980. Performing at civilian and military clubs throughout the islands. They recorded 1 LP and 2 Singles on Lehua Records. Toured the Orient & Asia on their own and again as Freddy Fender’s road band. They performed with Tennessee Ernie Ford, Little Jimmie Dickens, and Loretta Lynn and toured with both Jack Greene and Ace Cannon when they toured the islands. Now back together after all these years, their love of the classics and their commitment to honkytonk music make them and integral link from back in the day to the now, bypassing todays’ Nashville sound with their original take on what constitutes country music. From the paniolo country of Hawaii to Canada’s Alaska Hi-way and the Yukon, the wilds of western Washington to Austin, Texas performing in such exotic locales as Korea, Guam, The Philippines, Japan, Okinawa, Brazil, Mexico , Costa Rica and Loachapoka, Alabama. Still crazy after all these years, back together, playing that hardcore classic country that brung ‘em to the dance. … drinkin’, cheatin’, killin’, truck drivin’ love songs from the hillbilly hi way to the underbelly side of the honky tonk edge of town!
